Husband and wife team, Mark and Nicky Williamson recently acquired The West Arms, a boutique 16th century hotel set in the picturesque backdrop of the Berwyn Mountains in Wales.
Little did they know, it would be impossible to get a phone signal, however this hasn’t stopped businesses flocking to the historic 16-bedroom inn in the secluded village of Llanarmon DC to enjoy a rare opportunity to disconnect from the pressures of the office.
“At first, we thought our corporate guests might be put off, but we’ve found they’ve embraced a rare opportunity to take time away from their smartphones and connect with their team,” said Nicky. Hailing from a strong corporate background, she is confident the hotel can facilitate the needs of business guests: “The hotel is in a really special valley – people love getting away to such an otherworldly location. After years in my corporate role, I’m aware of what businesses need for a successful meeting or away day and we always strive to facilitate that. And if our guests really need to get in touch with the outside world, they can always use the Wi-Fi – but we like to keep that quiet!”
