 Durham University’s events team, Event Durham, has won the HRS Hotel Excellence Award for Excellence in Meetings; non-hotel category. The HRS Hotel Excellence Awards celebrate outstanding achievement from both the independent and group hotel sectors. Event Durham was awarded for creating an event organisation function within its current centralised sales team. As a result, the team can deliver pre-event organisation and customer relationship management, and offers extended opening times and consistency. Helen Strangward, Commercial Director of Event Durham, said: “The award reflects the hard work and dedication by the whole Event Durham team and our continuing commitment to providing an excellent product, supported by the highest standards possible in customer service.” Event Durham has also won the Gold Award for North East Business Tourism of the Year and came top in the Venuemasters’ Mystery Buyer Survey.
