UK cosmetics retailer, Lush, catered its annual conference with 100% vegan food, making it the largest UK vegan event outside of London. 2,000 plant-based meals were served throughout the two-day event across four venues including Camp and Furnace, Great Baltic Warehouse, Hinterlands and Constellations.

The full lunch and drinks service provided by Liverpool-based catering business, Relish, included lentil burgers, healthy buddha bowls and jackfruit sloppy joes and guests with a sweet tooth were offered dairy-free chocolate brownies.

Boasting over 900 stores worldwide, the cosmetics company has accrued a cult following since pioneering the concept of ‘cruelty-free’ beauty products. With a firm stance against animal testing it has a rigorous policy of ensuring every product is suitable for both vegetarians and vegans. As polls claim 2.9% of UK residents are set to become vegan by 2020, event organisers have seen the demand for vegan options soar.

Chis Foulkes, Managing Director at Relish, said: “We believe that vegan food can stand on its own and should not be thought of as a special dietary requirement. We’re really happy to say that now more than ever, we’re asked to include vegan options at large events and we’re certain that 100% vegan menus will continue to be on the increase.”
