A typical week at Newark Showground in Nottinghamshire will showcase the true diversity of the 128-acre site – it is the definition of a multipurpose venue.
Newark Showground’s team delivers over 500 regional and national events each year across 16 conference, exhibition and hospitality venues on a rural yet easily accessible campus; each venue providing a unique solution.
This October the campus of venues hosted 20 diverse events in one week. They included location filming for a television motoring show, a national two-day consumer exhibition, corporate meetings, local government and charity conferences, dinners, regular remote-controlled helicopter and photographic club nights and dog-training sessions, all to the surreal backdrop of an award-winning, 50-strong marching band rehearsing discretely ahead of a major international competition.
“Hosting such a variety – and an increasing number – of events on any given day demanded highly effective control processes, from enquiry to event execution,” said Paul Sparks, Sales and Marketing Manager. “The recently introduced Ungerboeck venue management system has taken our performance to a new level, enabling the team to efficiently cross-manage multiple and often complex, events simultaneously.
“A customer recently observed that Newark Showground’s robust infrastructure of venues, internal road network, flat grounds and can-do attitude enabled it to mould itself around his large, multi-layered event. Most venues, he admitted, insisted that he reshape his event to fit around them.”
Each event is supported by an experienced in-house catering team, Tastes. It provides tailored menus and bars for delegates, diners and guests seven days a week, as well as catering for hundreds of thousands of visitors to public events annually through satellite outlets in all the venues.
Renowned as the go-to venue hub in and around Newark, the showground’s central location also makes it ideally situated for regional and national events. Just half a mile from the busy A1, A46 and A17 road junction and only 75 minutes from Kings Cross by train, travelling to the venue is straightforward.
Organisers have up to 8,000 free parking spaces, site-wide Wi-Fi and few distractions, making it an ideal destination for indoor and outdoor events, or a combination of both. Boasting the largest purpose-built conference and exhibition venue in the county – the George Stephenson Hall accommodates up to 3,000 delegates – and a host of venues for smaller meetings, Newark Showground’s flexible hire plus or inclusive day delegate packages meet different needs and budgets.
For large-scale exhibitions, the venues offer 14,000 sqm of internal space, also hosting trade shows, dealer days or product launches while concrete runways recently accommodated the UK’s largest-ever mobile construction crane sale. For evening functions, dedicated banqueting rooms or larger blank canvas venues are constantly transformed to create bespoke events such as glittering awards ceremonies, glamorous fundraising balls and dazzling dinner dances.
Come rain or shine, all year round, Newark Showground bustles with a staggering multitude of activities.
