The Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME) has announced that NewcastleGateshead will be the host destination for its 2018 Annual Scientific Meeting.
The meeting will take place at Sage Gateshead from 11th to 13th July, with the theme of the event set to be medical education with a global perspective. Keynote speakers from around the globe will be visiting, while around 600 medical professional delegates are expected to attend, which could contribute over £650,000 to the local economy. As well as attending keynote speeches, delegates will be able to network, visit workshops, present to the medical education and research community, and attend social events.
Paul Szomoru, Head of Business Events at NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau, said: “It’s a privilege to be hosting the ASME annual scientific meeting in 2018. To be welcoming these delegates and speakers to our city where we’ve a proud history in medical education and life sciences, which is just as relevant today thanks to the brilliant work of our hospitals and universities, is a great opportunity for us to showcase these strengths.
“This conference also couldn’t be happening at a more exciting time,” added Paul, “as it will take place during the Great Exhibition of the North, which is running throughout the summer.” The two-month exhibition, also held in NewcastleGateshead, is intended to celebrate the art, culture, technology and design of northern England.
