H&E North has a pair of admission tickets worth £80 for the opening round of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship on 27th May up for grabs, courtesy of Santa Pod Raceway.
Santa Pod Raceway is the home of the FIA European Drag Racing Championships. The raceway is based in Bedfordshire and hosts over 50 events, including national drag race meetings, modified car shows, retro and classic car events, as well as offering VIP and corporate hospitality.
It is available to hire for testing, club days, product launches, training courses, board meetings, exhibitions, events and photo-shoots throughout the year including weekdays and/ or weekends, with a conference centre, track, campsites and 30 acres of open tarmac.
The Championship season kicks into high gear over spring bank holiday weekend with The Main Event (Friday 26th- Monday 29th May), the traditional opening round of the FIA and FIM European Drag Racing Championships. The race, a fixture on Santa Pod’s calendar since the beginning, began as the Whitsun ‘Big Go’ on the last Monday in May in 1971. The title ‘The Main Event’ was adopted 20 years later and the race acquired its international status as the opening round of the FIA Championship in 1996.
There will be upwards of 250 teams in the pits and an array of cars – from the kids’ Junior Dragsters to their grown-up, 10,000-horsepower, 300mph cousins, the Top Fuelers – along with hell-for-leather motorcycles on show too.
Expect to see Europe’s fastest-ever woman driver, Anita Mäkelä and her rival Duncan Micallef, who clocked the top speed at the Santa Pod European Finals on the asphalt last September.
In addition, there will be a full live action arena show of breathtaking stunts on two and four wheel vehicles. Attendees will also have the opportunity to wander around the pits and stop and speak to racers and crew to take a closer look at these mighty race machines.
