Are Hybrid Events the Future?

With Hybrid Events coming into place, the question is how this will impact the events industry moving forward?

A Hybrid event combines the traditional event setting, whilst broadcasting the event live from an online platform. This allows the option for people to virtually attend events whilst still engaging and interacting with the events content from an extremely safe distance.

Hybrid events will allow for on-demand content to allow those who could not attend the event to go back and re-visit important information they would have previously missed in their absence. This is an extremely useful solution that would otherwise be unavoidable had the virtual events online not been around. Equally, if you were present on the day but missed out some important information, you can go back and re-visit. A Hybrid Event has the potential to attract two or more times the number of attendees to your event given the in-person attendees and virtual, this places even more importance in marketing and engaging content.

Some key features and benefits of Hybrid Events have been outlined:

  • Extending your event to a wider audience for a fraction of the cost.
  • All live content can be recorded and stored in the online resource centre.
  • Attendees now have the option to decide HOW they will attend.
  • Hybrid events are also a very cost-effective way to reduce travel associated with an event.
  • These events can help organisations and individuals meet environmental responsibilities.

But just as this can be taken as a benefit, it can also be a large disadvantage. And this is because when it comes to organising a hybrid event, the logistics multiply. It is essential to have all the necessary elements for a face-to-face event and the expenses that these imply (travel, room and material rentals), and at the same time the necessary infrastructure of an online event and many times VR tools must be added.
